Anybody suffered from Tendonitis ?
« on: January 10, 2014, 09:37:11 am »
As above, work related , very painful shoulder and elbow from wfp.
Have been prescribed naproxen by the doctor, which finally seems to be taking affect after a week. Unfortunately being a sole trader I cannot really stop work and rest up, although I am refraining from doing a full round just now and limiting heavy going high level work. Doc was going to give a steroid injection but has since told me they no longer recommend it for tendon related injuries as can cause further damage.
Thinking now about trying accupuncture.
Anybody else suffered from similar ? what did you do ?

I had it in my right shoulder a few years back.
It was that bad I honestly thought of calling it a day as couldn't stick the pain.
I started to take a high dosage omega 3 tablet 1000mg daily and within 3 or 4 months it
had cleared up and touch wood it hasn't come back.
Healthspan sell them.
On the down side I have now found out that taking omega 3 can increase the risk of prostrate cancer
if its in your family history which it is in mine so have stopped using them.
That was 6 months ago and still pain free.

Ive suffered from osteoarthritis since I was 18 in my hips and back.
I very rarely let it stop me until I get sciatica and then im nearly in tears.
naproxen is very good I have taken that.
I was told by the doctor to retrain in computers and get a office job
that was nearly 20 years ago
I know tendinitis is bad as its shooting pains.i had it in my heels as a kid for a couple of years,I used to limp off the pitch every football match I played.
my father in law as osteoarthritis in his foot and gets a mobility car and many other things.
There is lots of natural medication that does a good job,try barrat and Holland they will help you.
Best thing to do is probably work every other day if possible.

Hi
Stretching helps, especially GENTLE Yoga type - slow not repetitive jerking about - that's exactly what you don't need.
Try and get doctor to send you for Physio - they can also use Infra Red and Ultrasound is really good I had 8 weeks of it.
You can also buy your own Ultrasound device for home treatment.

I've tried all sorts of remedies, accupuncture, deep heat, physio, chiropractor, resting,  ibuprofen etc etc but what really sorted me out was a steriod injection done by shoulder specialist on NHS just over 3 years ago. I was ready to pack in as it was so painful but luckily now sorted.

I had it in my right elbow a couple of months ago, very sore , no work no gym, was like the end of the world.

Had a few weeks off the gym and tryed as much as possible to change the way i clean, pole in other hand, different grip ect. Was hard using weaker arm but you gotta plod on,

Use slightly different grip now and seems alot better,

try changing ur grip see if it helps

I have also suffered big time with shoulder and elbow problems. Had a steroidal injection into the shoulder cavity which really helped. With regards to the elbow, I tried all manner of help and it was finally the accupuncture that fixed it. That was nearly two years ago and I work hard and also gym four times a week.

Only been doing this window cleaning about 4 years now. Prior to that I was a bricklayer with tennis elbow and shoulder aches. No aches and pains now just the odd twinge. The building trade has picked up big time now with many chances to go back. Just don't want a proper job any more. lol

Yes I have, had shoulder pain, forearm pain, pins and needles in hands, doctor said come back when you can't stand pain will give you steroid injection, went back couple of months later saw different doc, said I've come for steroid injection, doc said you don't want that will send you for physio, went for that all good gave me excercisec to do,which helped, four years down the road shoulder hurts when trying to put arm over gate, but other than that all good.
For I worked through it and came out the other side, but I'm feel I have to expect some probs as I'm 52
But like us all I have to keep going as family mortgage,no work no pay

invest in extreme poles and extreme brushes mate.makes one hell of a difference to how you feel at the end of the day.

no aches and pains now at all apart from my neck occasionally from looking up all the time!! :)
price higher/work harder!

I had exact same problems, tried acupuncture, didn't work. Took Naproxen as prescribed which numbed the pain but didn't cure the problem.
Was talking to a custie and mentioned that I was struggling with tennis/golfers elbow and she told me her sister was a physio and she would ask her about execises etc to help.
Eventually went round to see her, she asked me to show her how I cleaned using the pole. After watching for a few mins she recommended that I alternate left to right during the day, when holding the pole, the arm nearest the brush use an underhand grip. She also suggested doing push ups, start by doing them against a wall then over time move to back of a chair, arm of couch until you can do them normally with out elbow pain.
It's worked for me. ;)

Thank you for all the advice.
Not so bad this week, the naproxen finally seems to have kicked in and made things a lot easier. I have removed the end stops from my wfp's so I can easily remove sections and only work with what I need plus bought a new extreme brush and new lighter pole hose to what I was using. This seems to be making a difference  ;)
