Have been asked by a friend for 250L of RO water to fill his new fish tank.

I am happy to supply but am wondering if I need to disconnect my DI first and produce "special" water or will it be ok as it is?

Just a bit worried the DI resin may leave some kind of trace in the water which will kill his fish.
 
Anyone any experience of this?

I use R.O. water for top ups on my marine tank daily. Using D.I. in the process.

just watch the ph levels plus i would not use di water just ro water

OK Thanks guys, I think I will cut out the DI for the first fill and if he wants more in future for top ups I will give him the standard stuff.

I add a re-mineralised to my water because the fish and plants cannot survive in pure water. I use marin tropical for my tropical tank but there is something similar for marine tanks

If your only doing a partial water change then pure is great.

You should never change more than 1/4 of your water at a time.

If it's a new tank then you have to add the minerals needed for the fish. Aka the good bacteria for the waters Eco system.

i thought the most important part was removing the chlorine.
