Have you had success with Facebook for window cleaning?

Hi guys,

Hope you are enjoying Christmas and looking forward to the New Year.  ;D

I've had a Facebook page for the business for a while and like most people i've got just a few custies on there that Follow me - it's mainly friends and family.

So far I've built the business without advertising, save for my website, but I'm keen to hear from anyone who has gained business.

How have you increased Likes - what has worked and what failed? Does it lead to business or is it a waste of time, all things considered?
What zero cost (or close to zero) offers have worked for you on Facebook? Pay for 9 and get 10 cleans or similar / better?
Have you any specific tips you can pass on?

Personally I'm a member of local Facebook buy/sell groups and have occasionally posted on there , "Cleaning in XYZ today - give me a call if you need a clean" type-of-thing but I've only picked up one one-off job that way.

It would be good to hear your experiences.

Don't fancy it myself. I have seen other window cleaners fb pages that look to have descended into chaos with abuse from ex customers. People are less likely to go on there to say good things than they are bad things.

Saying that, I have seen other local businesses use Facebook with great success.

I've had good results from canvassing, leafleting and google ad words...but never with facebook. Perhaps it's just me.

I used it a couple of years ago to advertise in the areas I work. Got quite a bit of work off it, and I use it sometimes to message custies when there's an access gate or they owe money. Can't be bothered now though, not really chasing window work at the moment.

If you think ex custies would post stuff to wind you up or abuse you, then you could block them. I've never had a single problem with it though.

Carl , do a little research in your area to see if  you have a mums site ! Mums go on there to sell unwanted childrens items, chat about pregnancy,  ect ect ! if you  target this group ,  then recommendations is the key. i Get a vast amount of work in my area from this type of site. Ed

have had a few but to be honest it a load of poo. one offs and messers mainly.my main customer intake is canvassing  and advertising locally.do like a good door knock call me old fashioned.

Well, it seems like FB is less effective for businesses such as ours. I think canvassing is the best way of getting new business - targeted, in the area you want, can be done as and when and zero cost. Might well hit it in late winter / early spring to replace the messers I've culled and the movers and die'rs I've had lately!
