Wood treatment
« on: December 06, 2013, 05:04:16 pm »
Word on the street is that Protecter kote can only be used on metal, what do you use for wood and where is best to buy it from? I shall be working on this tomorrow so internet is not an option.

Just regular floor paint bud.
B&q et al sell it.
You want a few coats in traffic areas.
For grip stick some sand in it.
I've got an unopened tin here if you're not too far, you're welcome to it.

It's just the internet. Try not to worry.

I protectakoted my vans ply lining 4 years ago. It's still as good as new now.

just do exactly what PURE h20 has done, paint your wood with whatever you like and then buy a plastic boot tray for hoses and cloths. That way the paint should last a lot longer without chipping.

keep in mind when your kitting your van out to make sure everything you hang ( e.g poles, bottles, ladders) are all secured well so you don't have things bashing around! I HATE rattles and knocks when im driving it makes me paranoid.

also find a way to keep your hose reel secure whilst on the move, if your like me and lift it out each job I just use a bunjy to hold it in place.

last but not least we want to see progress so get a few photos in progress

Lee.

My friend has put safety flooring in his van. It just sits over the ply lining and is siliconed around edges, guess you could stick it to sides as well. It's the stuff they use in disabled wet rooms. Non slip very tough and looks really smart. Think it only cost him £30.00 don't know where you can source it though.
I am going to do it to my van soon and I have protects cited it already

The most important thing to do is fill in any gaps in the flooring, you don't want water getting under it where you can't see and where its unprotected. My advice,  take the ply out and protekta etc

I would take the floor and arches up and store it away, looks too nice to paint.

Then order protectocote to seal properly, set up the van tempereraly until done.

And dont put wood back.
