Glass polishing is a good little market, surprised more people are not doing it.  Would be a good add on service for a carpet cleaner.

I have a scratch on our patio door window, it appeared after having a small party. Is this something that can be removed? It looks like someone has stood against it with a zip and scratched down it. Quite big and fairly deep.

It depends on a few factors.

How thick is the glass?
Is it coated?
How deep is the scratch?
Double glazed or single glazed?

Prob about 3 years old, so newish UPVC patio doors. Double glazed, no idea if it's coated. I'd say it is thick glass, and the scratch is quite deep. I've polished marks off car windows in the past with just polish but nothing touches this scratch.

You will need to sand it. 3M Trizacts seem to work really well for this although they do burn out quick.

I have another system that arrived last week for trial. First job being a scratch my wiper left on my car window that is pretty deep.

After that I have a big glass dining room table to do.

Doublecheck the car mate because if it has any sort of coating on the screen it will take it off.  It is the same as this self clean glass coating they do on some double glazing.  You don't see it when your doing it!  It is only when you go and look through from the inside that you see it!

So will the 3M Trizacts fit onto a Das 6 polisher? Or a general sander? What is the success rate with this?

Is it the Bentley or the Ferrari that is scratched Jamie?

Al at scratch repair group is big into the glass game Neil.  If you don't fancy doing it your self he send one of his lads to sort it

Yes Cerium oxide is a great polishing medium.  Jewellers and opticians both use it in their respective trades.  We use loads of it for other applications as well.

While glass are durable and resistant to stains, they are susceptible to scratches. Over time scratches will accumulate in a glass floor, and after several years the installation will need to be replaced. There are some colors and finishes that can be purchased which will hide damage from scratches.
