changed connectors to rectus 26
« on: November 13, 2013, 02:45:58 pm »
as ive got a few days downtime i thought id change all my connectors on poles hoses and thermobore to the brass rectus 26.they feel a lot more heavy duty and robust than the 21 series and i hope they last a lot longer!

screwed on a 1/2 inch brass male hoselock directly onto L5 hot outlet with plenty of ptfe tape as the screw on thread kept leaking with the boiler hose(which is rubbish!!) ::)roll.

i think im finally getting there with the hot water set up.just waiting for 2m of radiator hose which should get delivered tomorrow for hot outlet to reel.ill jubilee clip a QR gardiners female connector on one end and a rectus 26 for connection to my reel.

any of you guys use rectus 26 connectors and do they last longer than others?

cheers

Hi Dazmond
Glad to hear your getting on well with the Hot!!
I have a Brodex system with the Rectus 26 fittings they are solid more robust but I think I would find one a bit heavy on the end of the reel hose and the pole hose.
Maybe you've got loads of muscles so it don't bother you!!!! ;D

Been using Rectus 26 for years, we started using them before Brodex adopted them as their fitting.

Pointless trying anything else in my eyes. They are not the cheapest but they last reasonably well and even when they wear you don't get 'pop offs'.

i use rectus 26 . they are really good and robust . they are good if its trailing on the floor ive only changed mine twice in 2 years .i couldnt get on with the 19 s ... someone needs to come up with a connector that once its pushed in you then need to twist it to lock it because it can pop off if it catch's a on a slab or something.

I dont have any issues with the 21 series, but i use jumbo protecta balls!

But i am changing to the Quick Release chrome style gardiner fittings, they are awesome!

They fixed 3 leaks!!!

Don't the "Pop Offs" drive you nuts though? ??? ???
Re-connect - pull as hard as you can - solid fix.
Re-start and what do you know - Pop Off - Rectus 21 light and handy but a lock collar would be great.

I used to suffer with pop offs all the time. That's why I fitted jumbo protector balls. Not had one since. In like 4/5 weeks

I used to use rectus 21 and got totally sick , I had a few tap bodys along with brass barbs  that fits into main hose i now have 1 brass barb fitted to each end of the tap body from gardiners .

I just push my aquadapter pole hose on to barb about an 1" and can easily disconnect if needed no issues at all .

The plastic tap lever has been replaced with an aluminium one made by one of my neighbours been using it for 3 months now without any issues at all . Mike

Nasty Daz. Yes I know what you mean about feeling every bump in the road, it's a nasty pain. Sounds like you have broke a rib or two there. It's not even worth going to A&E because they won't X-ray anyway.

Feet up and plenty of rest is the only way to mend I'm afraid. :-\. Frustrating ain't it?  :-\

i COULD be frustrated danny but ive just accepted it now.s*** happens!the pain is annoying me though esp not being able to sleep properly!! >:(

im keeping myself fairly busy though.had a good hour on my drum kit before and as long as i sit up straight im not in too much pain.

i have lots of other interests and little jobs that need doing and im tweaking my new hot system so im trying to enjoy my time off!

obviously id rather be working as i love being out in the fresh air earning money but i dont think its wise to do so at the moment.

best wishes mate
