Advertising - scam?
« on: October 24, 2013, 12:22:51 pm »
Just had a brief phone call from "Sarah" at the Safety awareness journal referring to our telephone conversation where apparantly I booked an advert. I denied this and asked for my purchase order number, to which she replied:

"Your purchase order will be out with the documents in the post tonight"

When I further denied booking any ads

She said "Ok I'll pass it to debt recovery" and hung up.

Needles to say the number she called from was witheld. Where do I stand with this? Anyone else had this call?

Hi Phillip,

There have been many calls of this nature in the past, they always claim to be from a "safety" journal or "police" journal, "ambulance" magazine - it's disgusting really!

I very much doubt you will receive anything in the post - they always try to make you feel like you have already booked an advert (like any of us would forget agreeing to this!!).

Ignore and spread the mesaage so no fellow members get scammed is the best advice here.

Mitch.

Somebody called us today about same information and which we got there number as they called witheld but we use a system which show us there CLI in our Number Admin Panel.    So I passed them to group company to deal with and apartly they had a few calls with variation of companies.

We had one too last week saying
'We just calling to update your google details'   So We gave him details and then about 5mins later we got a invoice for 250 for services.

I just said 'Please send copy of agreement of this service and we will pay'   Never heard since them but they tried pass to a Debt Management Company who as soon Lawyer got them we have never heard from them since.

Hi,
Been contacted many times by these idiots and have in the past liaised with
trading standards.
They will use all manner of scare mongering to get you to pay for advertising that does not exist, including several demand letters and threatening debt recovery.
I have and will always completely ignore all correspondence and will not enter into any kind of dialogue over the phone, if you mention the word yes they have been known to edit the phone recording using your "yes" agreeing to the advertising.

Whats so bloody annoying is that these b'stards get away with it. They have been going well over 20 years when I started. I know loads of cleaners who have been conned by them and no doubt they target other trades as well. This country is a scammers dream.

How did you get the number from a withheld call chris?

When you dial our number.   I can log into my Admin Panel and view all the calls we got and then it just Time of Call, Average Wait time, Caller Number, Number they dialled and length of the call.   Its due to I have a Intelligent Phone Number

If your intrested in where you can get one I can give you details of them if you want to email me.  Scottishchris20@gmail.com

guys, do what I do when you get an obvious sales call.... Hang up on them! Telling them to STICK IT RIGHT UP YOUR  JACKSIE!!! before hanging up is optional.

Unless its a friend or customer or MY bank they all get hung up on! Simple as that. Believe me, there is nothing to gain from listening to these c****. Quite the opposite in fact.
