imagine a George App....
« on: October 10, 2013, 09:33:26 pm »
APP for the George system to save us printing sheets off all the time, we could all have a ipad or iphone and tick the jobs as we go, add jobs as we price them, and most importantly REMOVE the messers without even thinking about it.

Would suit me perfect! Always on my phone, no more forgetting to take work sheets or print them off, bluetooth emails etc to a local library printer if needed... Even if they charged the price of george for a year i would pay it!

Aworka does most of that.

Aworka does most of that.

The problem with Aworka is that you need to have a connection, if it goes when in a blackspot you're stuffed.

I thought George was good and worked fine.  It was nice the way it worked with Palm as well and great value for money.  I decided to ditch it in the end though as Palm is now very old technology. I'm now using a database called filemaker that works with the iphone and does exactly what I build into it.

The problem with Aworka is that you need to have a connection, if it goes when in a blackspot you're stuffed.

You do not need a permanent internet connection to use the Aworka mobile site. As long as you have logged in or sync'ed to get your latest data when you are connected, you can then work all day without a signal and sync your updates back to the server when you get back in the evening.

Yes, Pocket George works great. Why fix something when it isn't broken

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't realize that.

I had our Apple app developed about 3 years ago. It was developed 'back door' and can't be resold but basically it consists of a customer list, payments page, customer details page and a few other bits. It has proved ok, but it has had a few probs with bugs. Then the developer has had to sort but in between the app hasn't been use while it gets fixed. A mobile based system for this reason is not the way to go. Myself and the developer are agreed that a web server based system is the way to go. This way it is much easier for him to see any problems and it is always backed up as it's a 'live' system.

Apologies if doesn't make sence but the wine is flowing  :D
