Description of the contract:
The awarding authority invites `expressions of interest? from companies experienced in completion of specialist cleaning and historic conservation repair work to external yellow terracotta dressings
and red brickwork to the frontage of Cradley Heath Library.
A Grade II listed building located on Upper High Street, Cradley Heath, Sandwell. This work will involve external building fabric repair and cleaning to include sampling methods and identifying
relevant work to be completed which will include a schedule of works to be approved by the SMBC Conservation Officer prior to work commencing.
The company appointed will then need to complete the agreed works and be responsible for effective project planning and site management in line with Heath and Safety and project timescale
requirements.
Due to the specialist nature of the works, companies applying must be Heritage CSCS approved and act as `Principle contractor? and only sub contract works to repair and redecorate the bell tower to
the front elevation of the Library and any additional works required as environmentally preventative works in relation to pigeon nuisance
Please include details in your application, a minimum of five examples of carrying out repair and cleaning to listed buildings using JOS/TORC Systems and DOFF/Steam cleaning.
Each company applying for this project will need to fund the total cost of participating in this selection process including cost of travel expenses and any costs incurred in completion of a project
brief if selected for the second stage.
It is planned that works will commence in February 2014 over a contract period of approximately three weeks. Once expressions of interest are received and a review of initial applications is
completed. A more detailed selection criteria will be sent to the companies that can most clearly demonstrate their track record in this area and meet the contractor compliance criteria proforma most
robustly.
