Quick Bit of Advice (First Commerical Quote)

Hi Fellas

Have just got a call to go and quote my first fairly small commercial job and am now filled with nerves! (Not sure why as its just like a large house really!)

My domestic is mainly on a 4 week cycle with some on 8. What is a standard commercial frequency? I was guessing at a quarterly clean?

Also do you charge more for the first clean, as I am aware that these haven't been done for a long time.

It is a fairly small office, 2 floors. (Ground and 1st) Do you just turn up to these as you would domestic or notify them before you go in general? And for payment I currently state payment within 14 days but would that be too short for most commercial?

Any other bits of wisdom you could share would be very much appreciated as I'm off to look at it in a few hours.

Your payment terms are yours weather the customer takes any notice of them is another matter, usually (for us) small commercial pay on the day or within 30 days.

Frequency - best talk to the client as you would domestic cleans we have 2 weekly (shop front) through to a yearly clean (school). Base your price on this if it's regular 4 wky then maybe forego a first clean price unless it's absolutely horrific, longer frequencies would be first clean price every time

Find out what is the clients requirements and attitude to cleaning if they are passionate about looking good and take on board your advice then bit should be a great job and price, if it's a clean because it just needs doing and the general feel is we want it cheap then payments may be a hassle and you get dropped as soon as someone offers too do it for a quid cheaper ( these would always get a first clean price )

As with all our work the customer is given a next clean date in this case on the current invoice

Hiya Tom good luck with it, I'd ask them if they want it done with cash and so them a dodgy invoice as its a small office if not tell erm if they want it done thru the books it will be slightly dearer due to tax costs. Id ask them how often they want it cleaned first as we do majority of our offices once a month if it was 3 monthly then the cost will go up slightly. Wouldn't worry yaself mate no one really moans with commercial you can normally do when it rains bit different than doing houses easier I think !!! 😜

Thanks Danny was every 3 months they wanted them done. All went smoothly in the end but an hour before I felt like I'd never cleaned a window before!

All good in the end though  :)

IMO wrong advice danny!do you honestly say to commercial customers "ill do it cheaper for cash,no invoice?" ::)roll

printed invoice every time and SAE or bank details.of course they can pay cash on the day but always supply them with  printed  invoice.

most of my commercial jobs pay up within 30 days and are on monthly or 6 weekly frequencies.

Dazmond if its a small commercial job ill ask if they want it done for cash on a dodgy invoice if its big I wouldn't even mention paying cash ill just price up and tell erm it will be x amount plus vat as I'm vat registered. Snazzy baby you stick to ya houses son and leave the big commercial to the big boys like myself he he. Hope you had a nice holiday soon goes now ya back to work just get on with it pmsl !!!

Dazmond if you had read it properly I said cash with a dodgy invoice !!!! You can buy an invoice book from staples get a rubber print stamp made up with any name and addy to stamp on the page your writing invoice to and give them that. You sound concerned about saying cash to small offices there only people son !!!!

we ll have to agree to disagree here danny.i would never supply any customer with a "dodgy" invoice as you suggest.

all mine are printed out on my printer from george.i also invoice lots of large domestic jobs and leave SAE or bank details if out.
