which van for truckmount
« on: September 22, 2013, 03:41:13 pm »
Considering upgrading to a truckmount, i have a VW T5 t32  lwb with a payload of 1275kg
gross weight of 3.2 ton.

I have a left side opening door, and to make it more complicated its a kombi and I use wfp window kit too.
Although i am looking to split to 2 vans early next year.

Would it be feesable to run a phoenix tm and wfp kit by scaling down my wfp tank?

Or just go large say a crafter size?

I see a lack of space being a problem... Would probably be fine if you only had the TM, remember all the other equipment and chems all contribute to the weight

Renault are supposed to be good relating to the weight issue.

Why not use one water tank and feed pure water thru th TM as well,
will help with scaling problems too

Yes, i was thinking of sharing the di water for both off one tank.
As you say Russ its ok for size just the weight on the rear axle, although the wfp tank is pretty central in the loaf area.

Im not sure it's worth the hassle of getting a TM if you are not using it as a full time job?

Perhaps a portable would be a better idea..

But if you are going for a TM I would say it would need to be a lwb van to fit window cleaning kit as well.

Hi Craig

I have been carpet cleaning 4 years now so its more of an upgrade than a start up.

Been doing the two side by side but really getting to the point i have to up the scale on the carpet side, and getting fed up with buckets etc.. on the portable.

I would buy a smaller van for th window leaning.

I upgraded to a Phoenix.
Bought an expert van just for that, costly but once paid for will be all good.

Mr B
If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

VW transporters are probably the best van on the road, they don't however like to carry loads of weight especially over the rear axle.
All the weight really needs to be just behind the bulkhead so a TM with a sub mounted water tank would be my choice.

HI

A box van will last much longer, the guys in the USA are all using them now. they will not rust as quickly as a panel van. just look at any builders pickup that use the same cab.

you have much more space for extra kit. plus the side of the box for you adverts. I hope to get a secondhand refrigerator box as it will be insulated and will protect your TM in the winter. and if this carpet cleaning does not work out I can sell ice creams  -)

I think you would struggle to get a truckmount in a transporter as there not the widest van
