I am just thinking of getting into a carpet cleaning market and have no idea of how big or small turnover could be.

Thank you for your participation, any comments welcome.

Kind regards,

Theres no reason why a 1 man band with a portable cant turn over 50k a year once established
i am earning about £200 a day when working
times that by a 5 day week = £1000
problem is as a new starter you will not have that work everyday, it does take time to build up

i am now 6 months into this venture
my first month i turned over £464
this month i expect it to be around £2000
within the next year i am confident it will be around £4000

Good luck

I'm  a bit puzzled by the volume and nature of your posting over the past few weeks for someone who's web site gives the impression of a positive, get up and go, type.

You appear to be doing ok in the domestic cleaning business, which requires very little capital outlay, compared to c/c.

Why don't you just  ' do it ' or concentrate your efforts on your existing business where you already have a client base and, presumably, credibility.

good luck

Rob, my partner – Maria can manage A & J Cleaning Services alone.  However I am not yet sure whether I am going to do carpet cleaning, might I would do better as web designer...   ;)

ROBS,

got a point used to live in areas you service.

If you are getting an income from domestic Milk it anything else is pure profit.

Is your Partner still cleaning  perhaps you need to get betond that andany capital surplus you have into marketing existing company.

You could alwaysas Steve said pass work  on to Carpet Cleaners and keep % for yourself.

Ian,

Very good point, let me explain,

I am not promoting A & J Cleaning Services as carpet cleaning business, so I am not getting any requests for such service.  I am thinking of starting CC as my partner does not want to have a big domestic cleaning agency, she wants to have a small business which  she can manage easily alone…

Kind regards,
Arthur

Fair enough you had better go for it.

But remember you have to constantly find customers.

Arthur:

Why not start offering CC to your existing customer base, hire a machine, see how it goes.

You might get cramp sitting at a PC designing web sites, but try humping a "steempro" up a flight of stairs!

You can get a Puzzi on ebay for £350...... ok its not a powerful pro machine, but it would get you going, trade up later if you need, keep the puzzi for small rooms and third floor flats!

Don't forget: domestic cleaning = few clients, regular work

carpet cleaning = new clients needed every week

If you are doing the CC part time, you could get a puzzi in the car boot, design web sites the rest of the time, see which works best for you?

Best wishes, from someone else moving into CC ('cos you can't valet cars in the snow)

Andrew,

Thank you for your advice, you posts are always interesting to read.

I have been planning to start carpet cleaning from hiring a CC machine (I have already asked about it Paul Bruce, who is member of this forum, he lives in Newcastle where I am).  I have to learn how to clean carpets first, so see you in Nottingham.

Kind regards,
Arthur

Hello Arthur

I started off with a Puzzi 100, by hiring it out, it cost my 60 quid a week from HSS services and I made alot more in profit. The only thing is when you get a real machine you wont use your puzzi again cos it is dam hard work compare to a real machine. I think the hand tool on the puzzi is excellent though for spot and stain removal, I still even clean stairs with it.

Good luck

Bruce

will red carpet comes back in a year and state his turnover then, from 464 to 4000 in 12 months, will be interesting to see how close you get.

And they is nothing better than a goal to boast you.

Karl,

In average how long does it take for a new carpet cleaner to get established?
