Salty stain on stiff carpet
« on: August 21, 2013, 05:43:14 pm »
Have someone come across something like this before?
This carpet is made of quite stiff fibre, so not wet cleanable I suppose. They had a fish tank leak, so the white stuff on the carpet is salt (salty water).
Can someone recommend method of cleaning and product to be used please or do I walk?

Cheers
Emil

DFC Calcium Lime & Rust Remover works great on ice melter tide marks so should work on this.

Thanks, Jamie. My only concern is that it is jute / sisal sort of carpet and therefore not wet clean friendly.
I suppose I would just explain to the customer the possible outcome and let them decide.

Thanks again.

Paul, the pic is there, however quality is rather reduced. The original photo is fine.
I couldn't work out how to upload it directly through the forum. Anyone any idea?

You could just flush it out but pre-qualify with client first that carpet may still be knackered. However removal of the salt deposits may improve it to the point that they could live with it. I would go with Jamie on the DFC Calcium, Lime & Rust Remover.
