Machine Mart also sell male and female connectors so you can have a small section of hose coming out of the tank, then a longer section to your  van.

Handy for winter when you don't want a 20ft loop of hose left outside to freeze..

That's exactly what I do with 1/2" hose but would like to do it with bigger.
Without connectors how do you switch off the pump without the hose coming out the tank? And with connectors you don't drag it on the floor and collect dirt which then goes in your tank and eventually to the pre-filter.

What I do is have a short section of 1" hose permanently connected to the pump with a male connector on the other end (just sticking out the top of the tank)

Then I have a long length of the same hose, with a female connector on the end, that goes to the van. When it's not in use, I undo the connectors  and coil up the hose (being careful I don't get dirt in the end) somewhere where it won't freeze.

That's exactly what I do at the moment but with 1/2" hose and hoselock connectors.

No worries mate, I used to use garden hose and it used to take ages compared to this stuff
