equipment/cleaning method query
« on: March 01, 2006, 08:18:03 pm »
Hello,I am considering getting into WC and have been looking at the threads but am a bit confused regarding how you use the recommended equipment whilst cleaning. If anyone could throw some light onto my questions I would be very grateful.

1- Am I right in thinking you need to wet/clean the window with an applicator,I have seen the Unger ergotee applicator frames and am presuming you need to attach an unger pad sleeve or original sleeve to this.

2-Do you then clear off the excess water with either a squegee or a T bar, which come in different sizes, you buy replacement rubbers for these I believe?

3- Do you them finish the window off by rubbing it down with a scrim?

4-Do you then clean the frame/sill ?Do you use another type of cloth for this?

If I have gotten something badly wrong here please forgive me but please put me right!!

Thanks

Captain Lard

Put a request on here for a day with a local window cleaner in the Durham area. The best way to see technique and all the extras you cannot get to grips with by reading about them.

Thanks for that info Adam, you are right the lass in the photos does look a bit mad!!
I presume a pro cleaner should aim to squegee the water off in one continual arcing sweep unlike the method explained in the info there where they did it in stages,I think the way they did it would be a bit streaky at times and I cant afford that as I havent time -no WC has- to wait for it to dry and check for streaks?
Am waiting for some kit from scrim city to get practising ,thanks again.
