Kitting out new van - need some advice
« on: May 08, 2013, 06:18:37 pm »
Hi guys

I'm picking up a Toyota Hiace SWB tomorrow.

I'm going to install a DIY 2 man system in the back.

I'm pretty sure I'm going for a 650 Litre lay flat tank - from what I've read, most people advise this due to weight distribution.

Where is the best place to buy the tank and frame from? And who can I get to fit it?

I might fit the tank and frame myself. Has anyone here done this? If so.. how easy is it to do?

I would go for an upright. The flat tank to too much trouble. It has a large footprint and when the water gets down the pumps will suck air into the system.

I would seriously conside a complete unit with frame from Pure Freedom.

Thanks Spruce.

I would prefer to go upright.

Thing is I don't want a complete system as I have a static tank with RO etc...

You just tell them what you want down to the pumps and controllers and get them to give you a price. You will either have to phone them or send them an email.

I have got a 650 litre upright and I have experienced no handling issues with my Citroen Relay van. No you can't go around corners as fast as when the tank's empty, but I doubt that it will be any different with a fully filled flat tank.

When the tank is full of water we drive slowly and responsibily and don't through the van around sharp bends on country roads. The son does and you should see how his tyres wear.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll give them a call in the morning.
