II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
The contractor is to carry out domestic cleaning and a sanitary waste
disposal service for the for Senedd, Ty Hywel and Pierhead buildings.
The Senedd, Ty Hywel and Pierhead are high profile buildings with public
access 7 days per week and must be presented at their best at all times
for Assembly Members, the public, visitors and staff.
The Senedd was commissioned in 2005 and occupies an area of approximately
5,121 m². The Senedd is the main centre for democracy and devolution in
Wales. The Senedd is made up of the main debating chamber as well as
various committee and conference rooms, reception and public areas
including a café and shop.
Ty Hywel building occupies an area of approximately 15,266 m² and is
predominantly office space accommodating approximately 800 people.
The Pierhead building is a Grade 1 listed building and occupies an area of
1,,821 m². The Pierhead building is mainly used as a Visitor, Conference
and Exhibition centre but also accommodates a small amount of staff.
