Thru floor hose-reel rollers
« on: April 13, 2013, 10:29:24 pm »
Anyone use this system whereby from the reel in the van you lead your hose through a floor in the van and access it that way?

If so how do you find it? How effective are the rollers

these things

Did you do the fitting and floor cutting yourself or get a company to do it for you?

I appreciate people need to lock their vans etc but I reel in with my pole hose connected. Keep on unplugging it would get me down!

i have considered this many times but in reality it's going to be too much hassle connecting the pole each
visit + we work where security is not much of an issue

Lee GLS had a great system where the hose was fed through an apature in the side of the van.

if i remember correctly you can get more suitable rollers from red roshce ( summat like that )  and Alex sells
a nice square one.

Side ports are a worse idea than a floor roller. You have to keep lugging your reel in and out of the van. Even on the new ionics brochure they're cleaning with the hose reel sat in the road. Absolutely pointless IMO

IMO side ports they are the best, lock your van and no nasty holes cut in the floor.
Alternatively some have had a diverter fitted to a fixed reel so both option are available.

I guess I'm lucky not to have any work in rough areas and nothing in my van is worth nicking anyway. Open back doors, grab pole, walk to first house. Simplicity and no extra work lifting. Jobs a goodn

You can cover the floor when selling the van, you can't exactly do that when cutting in the side. The whole point is not to lift hose reels in and out again.

Or rivet a small plate over the hole, spot-weld one perhaps.

If you dont have your hose reel bolted in back of van and place it on floor just use microbore hose from pump connection to hose reel then you can lock van doors .

Without the need to cut a hole in your van . Mike
