strange requests
« on: March 01, 2013, 08:55:03 am »
I have a regular customer today who I have been cleaning for 16 years now and my dad has been cleaning for at least 10years before that. So almost 26years of regular work. The house is huge and she breeds golden retrievers, I counted 16 when I went last year  :o. Anyway she always wants me to use crystal green, nothing else, and whenever I turn up she checks to make sure I have mixed it up in the TM. Im not sure why she likes it, maybe its the smell. I told her i use better chems but nope its gotta be crystal green.
Does anyone else have customers who request strange things?
Also does anyone else still crystal green for everyday cleaning?

Is that a "strange" request though? After that long she just knows what she likes.

Now, a request involving three dwarves, a mouse and a plunger, that would be more what I'd call "strange"  ;)

We've got a customer who swears she's allergic to all cleaning chemicals except organic soap. We rub a big agricultural bar of her soap all over the floor then rinse it up. F*****g good results, actually - and both sides happy.

We have a commercial client in a halls of residence that we do the ground floor communal area for.

The normal procedure on this is pile lift, cimex, bonnet and its done in 2 hours.

We had a TM in for an overhaul and rather than the normal engineer testing the customer requested that we took it on a job to run for a few hours.

So, we used the pile lifter, pre sprayed, agitated with a rotary and pad, extracted with the TM then bonneted off, a couple of whole room dryers installed as we went and job virtually dry at the first area as we were leaving.

I am sure we will all agree this is the most thorough clean we could do on these carpet tiles.

The customer called just as we got back to the office not happy as the big yellow machine hasn't been used. I explained the process we had used removed more soil than usual etc etc but the manager was insistant that the guys return and just run the cimex over it to be sure.

As they are a good customer and the work is very profitable we obliged. Every time they call now (end of each term) they always make sure when booking in that the yellow machine is available and not one of those hose types everyone has.

Just like the crystal green they have had great results first time we were there and now won't accept anything other than the same system again even though things have moved on.

A few months ago a fellow cleaner by me went to a job after quoting on site and started to fill his machine with cold water. The lady asked if he was going to use hot or cold water. When he said cold she told him to go away as she wanted Hot Water Extraction done on her carpets. No amount of persuasion would change her mind.
Job lost.
God must love stupid people---He made so many.
