hi guys
just a bit of info for you all. ive got a very small leak on my solution hose ( about an inch back from the brass connect ) due to normal wear and tear. took the hose to 3 different places to have the end shortened and a new crimp put on the end only to be told ....oh we cant shorten and remake ends on hoses anymore... as of 4 weeks ago no one is allowed to do this what you need to do is buy a complete new hose..
looks like its gonna be an expensive minor repair for me then

Name and shame them or advise a land fill site who will take them

well i could name and shame the companies involved but apparently its a nationwide policy as from now not to repair any ( hydraulic ) hoses. think its one of these new laws which has been secretly imposed by our beloved leaders,,,,,,,those that shall be obeyed at the good old houses of parliament ...

So it their word (you believe) but can they support it with paper work from the government or a money grabbing excise on their part

Simple, don't take the hose in with the damaged end. Cut it off first then just ask then to put an end on it. Advise them its just a hose you have cut in half or something.

Buy a crimping tool and cut the end off and refit it yourself

when i was a hydraulic fitter underground we used reuseable ends you cut off with a hacksaw then stripped the outer rubber back then screwed the outer cover on and nipped it up with the inside part with two 15" spanners they could take 1800psi and the reusable ends are available

It seems it's adherence to the British Standard.
BS EN ISO 4413:2010 “Hydraulic fluid power - General rules and safety requirements for systems and their components”
clause 5.4.6.5.1 a) states: “hose assemblies shall be constructed from hoses that have NOT been previously used in operation as part of another hose assembly and that fulfil all performance and marking requirements given in appropriate standards”

If you mean the blue solution hose that attaches to the wand, I am collecting mine from a company in Brighton who have just fixed mine.
They gave me another one to keep me going in the meantime.

Pirtec do have a national policy to not re-end hoses, but our local one says they don't mind as long as it's not hydraulic hoses - relatively low pressure water hoses in a low risk environment are OK for them - but they have to describe it as a new hose assembly on their system. Just had 3 done on Monday at £12 each.
