Perhaps my understanding of the lyric was a little different, my interpretation is, effectively, until you start having to pay what's the problem?  If you have to pay, (as the lyrics elude to) then you should get a say or you could be taken for a ride.  Derek isn't charging for membership, when he does "you pay your money, you take your CHOICE.

Sorry for any potential confusion on my interpretation of the lyrics.

See you in April boys, 'cos politics, right or wrong, legal or illegal, association or old boys club, my business has made a $hit load more money this year on commercial carpet cleaning from the advice and tips that were shared last year.  If i can pick up another gem like that this year Derek could make the fee's £500 a year and I'd still attend!

Andrew,
Believe it or not the vast majority will listen to an opposing view and while they may not agree with it will if nothing else respect the other persons view.
The problem is that you clearly have no respect for anyone and just want to bleat on about the same subject endlessly and to no avail because you've told us what you think a thousand times.
So could I ask you to respect the rest of us and give it a rest?

Most associations are owned you may be surprised usually there can be a holding company that owns the frontage, football clubs do it Chelsea FC are Chelsea village I'm sure you get the drift but the owner doesn't have to be front of house there's also another alternative where the company name could be called 'the approved carpet cleaning association'  a bit like the automobile association if you didn't know the NCCA is a ltd company so owned by another entity in theory.

in my opinion he was not posting with the benefit of the forum in mind, which although not a requirement of membership I believe it should be something we all should try to do.
