Tied down to a time?
« on: February 06, 2013, 05:17:19 pm »
Hi
Anyone doing commercial work where they want to know the specific day and time you're going to clean?
With the weather it's not practical really.
Or is it normally expected?

Many commercial jobs I have done have needed booking in weeks in advance. It is a total nightmare. In January 2011 (maybe 2010 my memory is not what it was) we were booked in to do a job trouble was it was -22 degrees  :o.

this is normal but like you say take tuesday if you had jobs booked in then it would of been impossible to do them ,  i know there is no collecting with these jobs but sometimes they can be more of a pain chaising payments as sometimes you can not put a face to a job just emails or calls . swings and rounabouts .

we have some commercials booked in, and there isnt a problem most times, however breakdown - weather - staff off at last min etc all eat into the factor, just let them know why you arent there on that day and rearrange, if it is something that has to be done that day as a handover etc, then try and get there to at least do some (not always practicle or possible)

Some want it booked some aren't bothered.  I have a job on friday that if I'm not booked in on I won't be allowed on site, the security is really tight. Just go with the flow.

We have jobs booked in months in advance.
Pro-if it's lashing down you can still work, even if its too much for houses.
Con-you get wet!
It's par for the course though

It's just the internet. Try not to worry.

i never pre book any of my commercial jobs.i just turn up roughly monthly,6 weekly, etc.whatever the agreed frequency.

same with domestics although i do text/phone the night before clean for access on a few jobs here and there.

keeps everything flexible.

I can relate to that , i got one of that Hugh Fernleys River Cottages on the books , to be honest its a PITA , it can only be done at 8am til 10am , the job is 2HR it takes 20 mins to get there and 20 mins to get back , it was well and good when i worked for the mighty Dave Morris as it tagged right behind all the high street stores , but as i dont do it any more £600 a year will soon be binned off , am i sad , naa not really as £600 a year is only an extra £12.50 house a week  , its all about streamlining for me these days.

Yup I got one a £50 nursery - gotta go at exactly 4 o'clock (tho the day can be flexible) so that the insides are done when the kids are having their tea in another room.

It's all this "If it's a male it's a paedophile" mentality that does it I reckon.

As Daz says, you need to be CRB checked to work inside when children are about whether you are male or female.

For me, I have my own keys to the outside gates and do the outside windows on a weekend or after 6pm in the summer when the children have all gone home. Insides are done by their own cleaners.

Thanks a lot for the info.  :D
Hopefully sorted it's only for the first time cleans, 'cos it's a new development the Local Authority have to inspect and having worked for a Local Authority I know what a pain they can be for their Risk assessments etc.. Droves of them sat in offices all day ticking boxes.
Just as well I am doing the Impact43 it's come in dead handy with the safe working zone and RAMS!!!!
Gonna get them cones out - High Viz - Steel Toe Caps - Hard Hat - Wind Speed Meter - Can't wait!!!!!!! ??? ???

They've not asked for one (they're welcome to get one done) but they follow me about like I'm gonna murder or abduct little Rosie or Jim!  ;D

I also do a school or two but usual there are no kiddywinks about on those.
