list of jobs for taxman
« on: February 06, 2013, 08:16:25 pm »
im due to pay my tax for 1st time in april , i thought i had to just declare my earnings for the year , but some on here are saying they keep list of each days jobs , i go out with my diary ,but the day nearly always changes with cancelations , add ons etc , to keep a tab of every custy and job each night would add a good half hour on my day , does someone who owns a cafe keep a record of every breakfast they sell for 4 pound , some of my jobs are only four pound , i know exactly how much i earn each day and each week , but is that good enough to keep the bogeyman at bay   ???
the more flyers i post , the luckier i seem to get ...

I have a column that lists everything i have stolen from customer lounges, like silver plate, Eiffel tower statuettes etc.  Noone's said anything yet.

It,s not a legal requirement, but if you get investigated by hmrc it sure would help.

I keep a ledger which itemises every job I do, and what I am paid for each job. I fill it in when I get home each day. It only takes a few minutes.

I also itemise every expense, and keep all supporting receipts.

At year end, the totals go on my tax return and are submitted. Job done, and if the Revenues Commission (Irish Inland Revenue) want to spot check me, my books are ready and waiting.

Buy a green tax book from Staples for about £12.  I think it's published by Collins. A4 sized. All the columns are written out for you already. Fill in the relevant bits at the end of every week, job done.

Best money I spend for sorting my tax.
