As i got the 27ft with 5 clamps, and will be using it for every day houses, is it best to mix up what clamps I undo and extend so that im not just using the same sections?
Also, what is the black connection thing all about that joins the pole hose at the top? is it so that you can swap brush heads quicker or something?
And finally, who actually cleans the pole once a week? Any other advice with anything to do with the clx would be great
It is best to always extend the top section first - doing otherwise will make the pole more top heavy and harder to use than it needs to be. What you can do though is not fully extend each section (by about 6") if the full height is not required as this can increase rigidity if needed.
You are right that this black connection is for quick changing the gooseneck and brushes. This video explains -

Cleaning the pole out thoroughly once a week really is the single greatest thing you can do to prolong the life of the pole. The other great thing is wiping the pole hose after each use as you put it back in the van - cloth in one hand and pull the hose through as you coil it up to put away. Takes about 10 seconds extra.
