can anyone tell me, please why?

range cookers, the metal black cast iron on the top.

why does it turn white after cleaning?

what can i use to revive it.

it was boiled clean, but has white bits on it.

ok. i have been informed that i may be able to purchase a hob paste/restorer, it is usually used to bring life back to electric solid plate hobs.
