calibrating flow controller v11
« on: January 26, 2013, 02:16:15 pm »
i have normally calibrated flow controller to around 35 and its been working fine but ive been working with a higher flow lately(around 65-70)and what happens is the flow just comes out like a jetwash whenever i turn the flow back on and then goes back down after a minute.only to come out really fast when i turn flow back on.im sure theres a lot of pressure in the system and its blown my connector off the pumpbox last week a few times and flooded the van!! :( :(

do i need to up the calibration?

i prefer working with a flow of around 70 but full blast is a bit too much and im wasting too much water.any ideas what to do?

its a brand new streamline pumpbox with latest digital flow controller v11.

many thanks

You've either got air in the system or the pressure needs dropping by the sound of it.

Calibrate it with a Mk 1 hammer and work without it.

Push the left and right button at the same time, it will say CAL. Push the down arrow until it says auto turn the flow on your pole then push the enter button. After 10-20 seconds the auto cal number will come up push enter again and it's all set.

Dazmond you are running your flow far to high that is why you are blowing the connectors off , I cant see how you can get a full days work with a flow that high .

I would buy some 1 mm clarkes welding tips off ebay fit them to your gardiners brush , Then even if your water is quite cold you should be able to set your Cal at 28-30 .

Then set your flow to about the same around 29-31 .

Also because you have been running at such a high flow rate and blowing off connectors off your Pump-Box you could have damaged your fittings change them over otherwise you will be drawing a small amount of air in , hope this helps . Mike

Daz

Did you get to the flow and calibration sorted to your liking? Is the pump pressure switch fitted?

Cheers

hi ian i changed the connectors that go into my pumpbox and messed about with the calibration so its set at 45 and flow at 60.its still coming out fast no matter what i do.no connectors have popped off though!!

the problem is mike (for me anyway)is that say i have flow set at 40 it just slows me down and i spend ages rinsing some windows.i work far faster with a high flow.ive started taking 400L out with me and thats just about doing me a days work with tradding some doors and ground floor windows.

i reckon i should put a 500L TANK in my next van and that will do a days work with a high flow.

a high flow is so much quicker and im shaving at least an hour a day off previous work cleaned at a lower flow.

i can understand now why some of you guys have bigger tanks in your vans.

best wishes

You should be to get a decent day's work with 400 litres, high flow rate = fast work, so it's not that much extra water used.

Bin the controller, just use the pump - you'll have to reconnect the pump's pressure switch.

Flow controllers are a pain in the bottom; take the hammer to it.

Hi Daz the calibration at 45 is well within the ranges we would expect to see as is a flow rate of 60, The best flow rate is the one that suits you best. As far as I know the pump box will have a 5.2ltr per min 100psi pump so you are probably running 2 - 3ltr per min.

factors which also affect the water speed at the brush head, Hose size, Jets size and even how high the pole is up. On the whole the system seems to be set up to your liking.

Cheers
