Conservatory roof ladder - are they safe ?
« on: January 22, 2013, 11:04:56 am »
safe as in they dont collapse the conny roof ............. maybe a silly question but at 18 stone I need to think about it.

Under the metal spars you see on the outside of the roof is there something more substantial underneath.

Just missed a set of here for £200 ( Bluefrog)

Think they would see more use than a gutter vac.

I know most of it can be cleaned by a wfp but will be charging a premium price for fully conny valets so prob will be investing in a pair if theres no chance of the roof caving in of course  ;D

ive considered buying some of these personally i think these were brought out before wfp was widely known i think a lot of guys sell these as prob no need for them for the time setting them up on standard size conservatorys the job could be half done

time =money

so need to weigh it up go in with higher price at risk of losing enquiry and spending longer on job

or go in lower, do a good enough job and get paid a better rate for your time

i think it would look more professional tho and you could push for higher prices by dropping in you have specialist conservatory ladders to accesss hard to reach area and possibly of awkward shaped conservatorys they would come in to there own

The problem with specialist equipment is that once you have it, you have to find work for it. So in addition to what Richy sensibly said, consider whether the time you may need to spend to get work to fit in with your new equipment may have been more profitably spent getting new work to fit the equipment you already have. You mentioned gutter vacs as an example of this.

also you have to make sure that the roof can take the weight, some roofs on the expencive one can hold alot of weight, some upto 1tonn, but the cheap diy ones from b and q and other places like that cant take as much weight,
just something else to look at too

Hi ive got a set off conservatory ladders (one with the knee slider from easy dec) and its a very good bit of kit last year they got used once or twice a week .
Ive never had any problems with them and feel very safe when working on them , they have adjustable feet for uneven surfaces and can adjust the height .
I got mine of my brother when i bought his business of him along with all the other equipment and leaflets and a matching website www.procleanconservatories.co.uk which brings in a lots of work last.
Im based in darlington and it brought me work in from york , newcastle , sunderland and guisborough as well as a lot of cleans in the local area.

Ive got the easi-dec one too.

Love it, its not often i use the top part, so it also acts as a great stand off, but when the top part is used, , yes its safe!!

Had mine about 6 years, great piece of kit  ;)
