My opinion of showa 377's
« on: December 22, 2012, 10:10:41 pm »
Well!,  after lots of people raving about the Showa 377's, I decided to try a pair out. I found some on ebay going cheap so thought what the heck.

In all honest, I dont think they're any warmer than the black marigolds I've been using from Tesco's through the summer to keep my hands clean.

I've used them for about a week or so, where there have been a couple of cold mornings to test them. I deliberately left the water cold one morning (which was around 2-4 degrees) and I have to say it was very uncomfortable.

I turned the hot water on and even after doing so, my hands still felt cold underneath the gloves. I was warming my hands up each time i popped the connections from the hosereel with the contraction of the hose forcing the water out of the reel.

The only benefit i could feel of these gloves over marigolds, was that when i stopped working, due to the slightly furry lining , my hands warmed up quicker.

Oh yes, I have had a drink or too if i've been waffling a bit,  Merry Xmas

These gloves are not for sub 5c weather, you really need fleece lined gloves such as the 460 for that, the 377s are very thin. Anything above 5c and they are good, as they offer more dexterity then 460s.

I don't like the 377's they make your hand sweaty and smelly and are no use in the winter. The best winter gloves are Youngstown winter gloves, or for milder days showa 451's

Lined Showas I find I have to put them on a radiator, for a couple of days, to dry the moisture from the lining. If the moisture is left inside, my fingers get colder than if I wasn't wearing gloves. The insides get wet from, damp hands going into the glove and a small amount of perspiration, I don't like to work up a sweat  ;D. Every week I put them through the washing machine, they do tend to get a little wiffy. I have 4 pairs that do the job.

i think they are excellent gloves.wear nitrile glove liners underneath and your hands wont smell and will be clean and dry.

on very cold days i wear some gardiners winter gloves, again with nitrile glove liners and these keep my hands warm and dry.

the trick is you MUST wear glove liners!!otherwise your hands are gonna stink something rotten!! ;D ;D

happy xmas guys!

Personally speaking the Gul winter gloves are totally useless. Bitterly cold and not anywhere near being slightly waterproof. They leak through very quickly.

tim mine are not the gul gloves! they are the cheap ski winter gloves that gardiners sell.they are ok with glove liners.keep my hands toasty in cold weather!the backs of them are not waterproof but they are just fine for cold days.

Oh, that's strange, they've got different ones since I bought mine. Look good.
