Is it down to personal preference or is there REALLY a  BEST make of squeegee/rubber.I'm fairly new to the game and would appreciate any advice on what is probably the most important bit of the kit.

I used to use the bass one's because they were small and quick to turn, but very cold in winter, so for last 4 years switched to these  http://www.windowcleancentre.co.uk/productdetails.aspx?ProductID=30&SectionID=32    i find them comfortable holding, and not cold in winter, hope this helps,   .j.

 i think pulex is the best rubber, it lasts longer, and i always detail windows out of habit anyway, which is why i never bought soft ettore rubber, always more expensive,

i would agree,except the wagtail rubber is a hard rubber and not really good in the cold weather more of a summer rubber

Yes normally I'd say the same but this rubber works in the cold conditions with out issues, unlike ungers hard rubber.

Many thanks for all the advice. Avo,I think I may need a bit more experience before trying the wagtail.Ive watched a video and it looks as if it takes a bit of getting used to. JP,read the link to Ettore one you use.It says that it swivels.Does this mean it 'steers' if you twist the handle when using.Sorry for ignorance but,like I said, I am still learning and the best advice is from those that have 'been there'.Thanks.Graham

Using it on a pole dose take a little practice but for working in hand it's so so easy and twice the speed..

Hi graham I still trad alot of my work and use to use Ettore brass squeegee but changed over to this http://www.windowcleaningwarehouse.co.uk/shop/index.php?option=com_aceshop&route=product/product&path=75_7_315&product_id=191 nice to use as the handle is a little longer the brass I also use Ettore soft rubbers really glide well a little more expensive but does a quality job and paid for itself after first window! As for the handle it swivels but not when your twisting to clean windows it has a screw to tighten and loosen. Hope this helps

Hi wayne, i never use soft rubber, they never seemed to last long, years ago more custies had iron windows with painted putty that used to tear my rubber,  prob not so bad these days , more people have double glazed, but i just stuck with pulex good alround rubber , i think,  .j.

i much prefer the weight of the brass unger ones.  however, i have been told that the wagtail is far better on your joints and general hand health (bearing in mind i have another 30 years of squeegee use ahead of me), has anyone else heard this or is living proof?

If your new to window cleaning you will find the Wagtail easy to use, even on a pole......
