Biggest pump on 13hp engine??
« on: December 22, 2012, 08:00:04 pm »
Quick question and more out of intrest  but what the biggest pump u can fit to a 13hp petrol engine?
I've got a 200bar 15lpm pump on mine and thinking of upgrading a a ws202 21lpm pump for next season. The 15lpm does wel but does struggle some times and can be slow but think that extra 6lpm could help.

It will almost definate be the ws202 but out of intrest is there anything 21l+ that can run on 13hp and are we talking seriouse dollar??
Thanks.

Its the horsepower you need to look at. I know Lee from Blastaway said his 202 wouldnt run at full psi on his yanmar engine.

They are fitted as standard but I would be wary of fitting one to a tired motor. I have a 202 fitted to a 14hp diesel which I'm going to mount on a trailer and I have a petrol Honda as a back up and for remote jobs. Would it not be better to invest in a diesel for the new pump which if you do any amount of washing will pay for itself very quickly in fuel costs

With a 202 pump on a 13hp Honda some companies have now started to equip with two suction hoses.

So 2 suction hoses, 1 to each side of the pump head inlets, 2 strainers. This has been proven to draw the full 21 lpm, where as from one hose it was calculated to draw less.

Carl, what's the 14hp engine?

I want oe that size to replace the Yanmar that we've got the problem with. I've got a 202 pump and gearbox sat about to go on an engine so I would look to put it a bigger diesel engine to mount on the van.

Lombardini LDW 702, runs about 5 hours constant on about 9 ltrs. Mines on a trolley at the moment but I rarely ever take it out of the tow van - it's no lightweight. It'll be going on a trailer with the hot box soon. You would need a spider plate to drive it as it has a proper flywheel.

Even if you belt drive it you would still need a spider plate of some sort plus a support bearing. A gearbox is far simpler and dosn't load the crank

This one is pulley driven

My lombardini is belt drive. has a shaft coming off the flywheel with a pully on it. belt goes from that pully to a pulley on the pump. dont know where you would get the pulleys made up though. would have to be the right size to keep the revs right.

Matt the pulleys are widely available. The fact that the belts need a tension which loads the main bearings, it also offsets the pump from the centre line of the engine which can cause package issues if you want to trolley mount it. A gearbox is very easy to mount at home with just a spanner and maybe a file to dress the key. Matt which lombardini do you have ?

Where do you get the pulleys from? Just in case.

Ive got the LDW 1204 if i remember right. havent had to get the engine number for a while.

The belt drive footprint shouldnt be an issue for a trailer mount though.

Sites like http://www.eriks.co.uk/Belt-Drive-Pulleys/402 or just walk into your local bearing shop.
