The pro guys will tell you that a diesel will actually pay for itself in fuel cost savings over the petrol models in a surprisingly short space of time,dependent on useage obviously.

yes thats right,    but just trying to get started a petrol will do for driveways etc,    if it takes off and the first washer gets paid for,  then i can forward plan as i gain more experience.   there will be a lot to learn as i go along this course.    i will have to get some experience from somewhere,   in january.     any offers in or near teesside would be great,     get a free days labour for free.

I think they're the one's that don't have gearboxes and are direct drive. So 250 bar 15 LPM higher RPM but you want a gearbox really.

blastaway,   would i be able to use a 18lpm,  14hp, 4000psi.      via  a 210 litre container filled with water,   keeping topped up via customers tap using  hosepipe.    like the one at    genpower site,    the   EPW4000 model.       or is this high spec model best used with a ibc van mount  water container.       at the moment i will just be using a trailer for transportation.            in your experience would this spec be too big for me to use  via customers water supply,    using a big water drum filled to feed washer.     i wouldnt want to purchase said item and find i cant use it    because of water supply.        or would i be able to use this powerfull washer spec.    to save me upgrading   if work comes in.

I wouldn`t go anywhere near it,i think they are quoting u.s gallon figures to end up at 18l/min.This evopower range is on a big marketing drive and they are coming in cheap as they are sourcing cheap parts and lesser quality.You might finds yourself very alone when it comes to back up and spares.

Mate, if you bide your time, and keep your eye on eBay/Gumtree, you will get a half decent used Honda/Yanmar/Lombardini for the same money as that Genpower one. The used machine might need a new filter, or a tidy up, but atleast youll know you can get parts for it, and most decent mower shops will be able to repair it and you know you have a reliable good brand machine.

Not having a go at you but we have given you decent advise, all of us saying honda yanmar or lombardini. yet you still want to buy chinese crap?

cheers mat,   you know how it is     i want it now   atitude,   its a man thing  to have a big pressure washer,  ill bide my time   its not good time yet weather wise.        can you let me know if winter weather can damage pressure washers when stored away,   ive had a couple of small electric washers left in shed through winter   only to get out and no life whatever.  now i bring indoors  just small household one.

A possible bargain,there is a relief valve on it to help starting and drain out water to help prevent damage by freezing.

Winter weather can definitely damage the washer. My washer is in the van so i run antifreeze through the pump. my machine is also a diesel watercooled engine, so the engine cant freeze either.

One of the other guys will be able to tell you what can happen with one of the small engined washes in the cold, but i do know that the pumps should be fully drained cause if the pump freezes it can crack pistons/housing/heads and then its knackered.

It is either a taskman or duel pumps pressure washer....both the same components. Honda engine,reduction gearbox, interpump .The only "weak" part on it will be the unloader valve. This will be ok for what you want .Price new will be around £1400-2000 depending on where you buy it from!! Good quality components that are easily repaired if need be...but should give good service for years if looked after. My number is 07973216502 if you want more info.

For the sake of clarity as far as I'm concerned pressures wahers fall into two main groups.
1 - Reputable engines and pumps fitted with an unloader then bolted to a suitable chassis
2 - Cheap inferior copies of the above made in some shed next to a paddy field by a beansprout scoffing, patent ingnoring chinese "firm".
So you either buy carp and feed the beansprouts or buy the reputable engines / pumps.
Don't be confused by the reputable brands manufactured in China because then you will be able to get parts. Have you ever read a chinese address ?
