the cloth filter should be left out if sucking wet material and left in when sucking dry material, if sucking wet there should be a float mechanism that floats up and prevents over filling so water does not get into the vac motors, obviously this would not work for dry material and dust and so that is when you use the cloth filter. if the cloth filter gets wet whilst in use then this will be reducing your suction

And carl do you have any probs without the filter in because i worry that it's not just water but bitty aswell Cheers Phil.

Trev, after leaving our filter bag out it suck bits up and then eventually loses suction then requires cleaning.

Hi lee
i did mention that your float chamber should have a cage filter round the outside if it had one of these on then what you are talking about would not happen, when i am at the office on monday i will take a picture of mine and forward it onto you so you can adapt yours
