firstly...........one clean ..one payment, none of this 2,3,4,5 cleans owing
secondly call around get the money and tell them your going to standing orders only(this is more for persistent non payers) or reiterate the terms of BACS payment ,ie payment within 7 days etc

I get ur stand bob & you are right! However I like to give benefit of just human nature to some people (like not getting around to it but meaning too.. :-\.) but is it wrong to send a short txt reminding of payment or is this over stepping the boundary line?

I txt or ring every customer and txt when the account
Is overdue

I give new customers the option of bacs but If the 1st
Payment isn't made after reminder it's cash or cheque on the day
Or they don't get done. And get dropped

Sorts the messers out fast enough!!

I don't want any 1st sign of it and there history now
keep it simple

I agree with Bob!! you clean and then they pay.
If they say hey will do a transfer and it isnt received within 3 days we start chasing!
Stops the messers quick enough

Hi Mrs Brown
On the bottom of "Your windows have been cleaned today" slip.
Payment within 3 days much appreciated. Thank you.
After 3 days send reminder text.
"BACS not received yet any problems please call."
Most people have just forgotten - they have such busy lives.
Not had any take offense at being reminded so far.
Missus was texting this morning had 3 in when we came back for a bite to eat lunchtime. ;D ;D ;D

trouble is if you text a reminder the chances are theyll do it again, pay later still next time and so on .
i have learnt it makes sense to drop them as early as you can . i really believe you are better going home early and happy rather than waste time and money cleaning for a messer
