Interesting story that I would like to compare notes on. If you think you may have information or have the same situation please contact me so that we can figure this out.
I had a job opening advertised in Derby. I found a great candidate. He was perfect for the job and had all the right answers to the interview questions. He worked 10 hours in the evening and needed extra hours in the morning. His CV stated that he was an operative for a large cleaning company and a key holder. He had his current job for 5 years and it was time to take on some extra work.
I offered him the job and he accepted. Before I finalised the start date and hours to be worked I came across some information that disturbed me. It seemed that this gentleman was an Area Manager for this large cleaning company. I did a google search and found his name and the exact number advertising for a job vacancy with him as the contact for application. I called and confronted him about it and he stated that he did not know what I was talking about or why that would be like that. I asked a few more questions and he finally said, I will come clean with you . I used to be an Area Supervisor for them but it did not work out. I am just an operative now. So I asked if I could call him back and he said yes. I called the office I thought his position would be at. I asked "is so and so there" that is all I said. The answer "He is not in his office at the moment, can I take a message?"
There are only a few reasons that I can figure why this would be done.
If there are any companies in the Derby area that found someone that was perfect and all of sudden that person left for some reason that seemed strange or if they left and you soon lost the contract, or seemed to lose a quite a few contracts. Maybe an employee that seemed to ask too many questions. Or the perfect person came up with a reason not to start after you had given them the name and address of the client. I know this could cover a lot. But if there is something suspicious I would love to compare some notes.
Oh the same office covers Nottingham also so it could have been there also. Just a quick compare notes against current and past HR and we might be able to figure something out.
