Just closed down my scottish widows funds last month and had email from Barclays Stockbrokers that funds will be in my SIPP ( self invested personal pension) tomorrow.

Every £100 I pay in counts as £120 so tax man giving me £20 

Then will be in charge of my own investing plus can borrow against SIPP to fund my own commercial premises in the not too distant future so rent will go back to SIPP .......... all tax free !

Dont see the point for example invest £300 a month for 30 years into a pension and when you retire get approx £7,500 a year .

Stopped paying into to mine this year after last pension statement and forecast waste of money .Mike

totally agree so DIY from now on for me ... dont need any numpty investing my money ... do a better job myself

like the sipp idea have a deffered pension pot paid into for 25yrs nice pot but looking to increase like the idea of commercial property how old are you ian if you dont mind me asking

My money is on the fact that in a few years once work place pensions are full in place they will stop state pensions for school leavers  

It won't affect us but i bet it will affect my daughters

Don't even get me started!!! My pension was with equitable life
, put £10k in and I think it's still worth £10k after 10 years!!!
Also opted out of SERPS , the pot had 30k paid in and it's
Only made 5k . Waste of time and money unless you've got
She's loads to invest. Better off buying second property maybe

im sure a sipp allowed property purchase so long as any income was paid directly back into fund not so sure now belieave you can only look at commercial again any income has to be paid back into sipp... can pull 25% tax free at 55 then purchase endemnity must admit well confusing tho
