anyone run one? need a 2nd van soon for a single man operation with a 400 litre tank and these seem good value, I know they're the same as the expert, any reviews please.

Used to have an expert and my brother still has a scudo.

Fantastic motors with loads of space in them. 800kg payload making 400L easy to handle and plenty of room inside to fit a few poles, a-frame and a pair of steps too. used to get about 50-60mpg out of it.

Get the turbo model. A friend of mine has the turbo and his dad has the non turbo. His dad said the non turbo doesnt pull well up hill and if you have weight in the back.

Problems i can remember are the door locks go on them ( about £200 to replace barrels from ebay). Didnt have anything else really go wrong with mine until it hit 190k then the gearbox went.

Here is a pic of how i had mine set up - 400L upright at the front and you could even get into the back from the side loading doors

They are the same as an Expert - yes true, in the early years.
The latest Scudo's are still built by Fiat but now use their own Multijet Fiat engine.

The earlier 2.0 JTD was infact a PSA Hdi engine, and so the Dispatch, Expert & Scudo were identical mechanically apart from badges and trim options. Citroen and Peugeot sold their vans with dual passenger seat as standard (optional extra was a single passenger seat) but Fiat sold their van as standard with a single passenger seat (although most Fiat dealers ordered their vans with a dual passenger seat and paid extra for that option.)

So if you need a dual passenger seat and you are buying a Fiat, then always check what option that van has.

Glased or unglased rear doors were a no cost option so second hand they could be either, although Fiat UK usually ordered stock items with unglased doors, whereas PSA seemed to order stock items with glased doors for some reason.

Although all 3 vans were identical, Peugeot was always perceived as the best van, Citroen 2nd with Fiat last. As they get older I don't see much difference in retail prices asked, but there seems to be more examples of Experts in better condition than Scudos, but that a personal observation made just recently when I was looking at them.

The early 1998/9 examples had a payload of 815kgs for both the 1.9 and the 1.9TD.
From about 2000 they uprated the payload of the TD to 900kgs.

This payload difference continued when the 2.0 Hdi motor was introduced to replace the 1.9TD. Eventually the 1.9 wouldn't meet Euro emmission standards, so the engine was discontinued.

I wish some of my customers could have got the fuel consumption figures you have quoted. Most compained of heavy fuel usage, especially of the turbo units.

cheers guys will be an early model I go for (2002-03 td most likely), just something cheap and cheerful to stick in a 400 litre delivery system, will have a re vamp once I have made my millions lol

Mine was an early model (95) N plate.

Great thing is that as a second van you could easily turn it into a 2 man van and carry extra water in 25L barrels.

If I hadn't put so much money into my boxer I'd go back to an expert

I've got a customer who has a Peugeot Expert 1.9 Diesel non-turbo (2003 reg I think).
Anyway his one has about 120,000 miles on the clock, and he uses it for moving small items of furniture around.
He told me that apart from the usual servicing it has been very reliable and he has had no major problems at all with it.
Sounds like a decent van.

I've got dispatch 05 reg think it's the same as scudo..   Very good value workhorse. Mines not turbo heard they are better. Really good value though not best for motorway as plodder. Can you tell me name of that wc  business book. Met at cambridge . Good you've got so much work in that time.next to you on course.

Sounds about right with regard to fuel.

I have a scudo, best van i've ever had.

The two things that typically go are the locks and the heater controls.
