Is there such a thing as a light weight 6kva genny?  or a small one at that?  or are they all massive beasts?  :)

I think they are all big buggers. Honda probably the best/lightest. Many different makes all use the same engine. All 70kg upwards.

I have a smaller version of this          http://www.pump.co.uk/generators-c108/petrol-silent-generators-c115/loncin-lc8000ddc-silent-petrol-generator-p4535
Chinese - it's been ok so far for about three years, bloody heavy and not exactly silent!

i too have a 6kva loncin , it is half the price of the honda and i too have had it for around 3 years and it has never let me down , though if i was buying one again i would pay a few extra quid for an auto start.

And in answer to your question they are all big old buggers, the Honda may be a little bit lighter for twice the price but it will still be a 2 man lifter.
