From the sounds of it you need an "Adapter to use EZ-Snap™ tail pole with standard hose reel"

http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/adapter-to-useez-snap-tail-pole-standard-hose-reel.html

Or alternatively you might need this adapter:

Could you post a photo of the fitting you are trying to connect it to (8mm stem).

Ok, that sounds a bit different to what you posted originally (8mm barb on the end of my pole hose) which I presumed was an EZ snap male connector.  Do you not have an EZ snap male connector on the end of your pole hose (after your pole valve)?

Could you take a photograph of those parts laid out with the part you want to connect to an outside tap clearly identified?  I will be able to make you a little adapter to plug into the adapter you've already bought, but I need to see exactly what you are you using.

Great. I'll make you up a little adapter in the morning which will allow you to connect with the adapter you've just bought.  Email me your name and address (alex@agardiner.co.uk) and I will get it sent out tomorrow.
