'If the Polar Sea Ice melts past the tipping point, the jet stream will consistently sit in the South off the shores of the UK. This will mean that the wettest summer since 1910 (like the summer we have had) will be every year!'

Sorry Lee but that statement is 100% pure speculation.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

The melting of the sea ice would shift the jet stream down south just ask any meterologist you don't have to just take my word for it :) ..... which means more wet summers..... lets hope the ice don't go over the tipping point.

who cares, buy waterproofs ;)

by the way if you fill a bath up with ice and let it melt you end up with lower water levels

very interesting......but
this has been going on for years now... summers have been getting gradually worse...
it's very annoying...
however....I feel that the customers attitude has also changed!
window cleaning is my living...and now with water fed pole I work in all weather, within reason ;D
10 or 15 yrs ago I would have very negative feedback from customers , however , these days customers understand that it can rain weeks on end, and thay dont realy bother moaning!
of course there are the odd one or two that may moan...but hey...that doesn't realy affect a buisness doe
s it?
just gotta get on with it >:( ;D I have onl;y lost 2 days to the weather this year!!

The weather (meteorology) is my hobby and has been for over 30 years so in that sense, I already have 'checked it out'. That quote is 100% complete and utter speculation.

There may be a link to ice melt but it's not one that is at present definable or measurable. It's more likely that what is causing this years unusual ice melt in the Arctic may also have had an effect on the jet stream. In other words, both the melting of Arctic ice and the jet stream being south of the uk for a longer period than is normal during summer, may both be an effect.

No one knows for certain what causes jet stream variations.

There has also been unprecedented levels of solar activity this year and the relationship between solar events and our weather is a newish subject and still far from understood.

The jet stream caused the misquoted 'hurricane' of 1987. What would you say caused that then?

You're right Gary.

I just don't like gutter press type garbage headline grabbing comments by those who know little or nothing about how the dynamics of the atmosphere works and then present media hyped up rubbish as a fact. I know little by comparison to some but Lee obviously knows even less.  >:(

Rant over.  ;D

That bit in red - many meteorologists can't predict the weather ten days hence!

Why not put what I believe you really mean which is:

"Any old rubbish that I can make a tenuous link to window cleaning and which gets people looking at my on-line "paper" is good by me!

 ;)
It's a game of three halves!

Of course you're right. Being a grumpy numpty is actually quite enjoyable. You don't have to pretend, you can just be yourself.

Lee should stick to what he knows and what he does in great style and with enviable enthusiasm - his online magazine about window cleaning and forget about what causes the weather.

Polar bear number two's? Can you imagine trying to clean a whopping great foot long lump of digested seal from your boots?
