Advice on Websites
« on: September 09, 2012, 12:58:27 pm »

Have just built my own website using 123reg.

I am getting 8-10  of hits a week but only from leaflets that I drop. Can anyone advise the best way to get increased SEO ( Search Engine Optimization )

There are companies that you can pay monthly but I dont have the budgets to pay £100s each month at the moment.

Any advice on a cheaper but effective way of getting higher in the Google rankings. I might be half decent at WC, but website stuff is not my strong point. I dont mind paying £50 a month or so but doubt that will make much difference.

For some bizarre reason I keep getting calls from Devon because when you google a window cleaner in certain parts of Devon, I come up because my domain name is similar to another company in that area.

Would be nice to google and find I am in the correct area not Devon !

Any advice ?

Cheers

when you say you are getting 8-10 hits a week, do you mean 8-10 inquiries a week or 8-10 people landing on your website?

What I was advised:
If you buy through 1:1 or moon fruit then THEY own your site.

You have to pay their rates and can never leave.

Buy your site outright and buy the company name too. Because if someone else registers it before you they may be able to take the domain off of legally.
