help with a few things for pressure washing????
« on: August 29, 2012, 10:39:16 am »
hi all, i have recently gone into pressure cleaning driveways, patios, walls, decking etc, and got alot more response than expected, now its coming to the end of the year were i expect not to get so many jobs i want to improve my pressure cleaning side with better equiptment and cleaning soloutions...

1)i need a good oil remover that can be used on most surfaces, and a place to buy it from?
2)i need advice on what lances to use, ive been told there is one that spins whilst cleaning that makes it far easier?
3)i was thinking of putting a little tank in my van for mixing a fungicidal wash in and some kind of little pump and sprayer and hose to make it easier anyone else done this? and how?
4)best way to seal block paving, roller or sprayer?
5) a multi purpose cleaner or acid that makes pressure washing far easier?
6) how long does it take roughly for you to clean a normal size block paving driveway? atm its taking me 6 hours is that right, or am i doing to much of a good job lol

1 last question... does anyone know if you can do a full colour change on a pattern imprinted concrete driveway as our drive at home is (biscuit) coloured but very badly faded and has alot of marks... could do with a darker colour over the top!
many thanks, as i said before i am new to this pressure cleaning and really enjoying it

1) OT8 - Google for local suppliers
2) Turbo Nozzle: -

3) Just mix in your pump up sprayer as and when needed.
4) Roller for me, but it's each to their own.

5) Each job is different. Just get some OT8, Sodium Hypochlorite and Hydrochloric Acid.

6) Normal size?

PIC - You can strip the old colour off with Xylene. Once clean it's just a matter of adding a pigment to the seal.

If you get yourself a flat surface cleaner {fsc}, a "normal" sized drive which I guess would be at a typical three bed semi should take you an hour to clean, maybe 90 minutes. It's so much faster than using the lance. You need to check the lpm of your pressure washer to just make sure it's up to the job. Most half decent machines are capable of running a standard 18 inch fsc but it's worth checking before you buy one.

For Block Paving I find the FSC not always up to the job, gets the dirt OK but not all weeds etc.

I now just use a Turbo on BP, loads quicker, although admittedly much harder work. Def tiring on bigger jobs and have to take mini-breaks due to the vibe's.

Hi Lee, apart from the cover that holds the hose reel coming loose and hanging off the side whilst bimbling down the M6 all went well  :o  I nearly had a bloomin heart attack  ;D

I've ordered a damper today (the thing I broke when replacing the hitch) and I've got my mate coming over to service a few bits and bobs and I've added this to his list.

Thanks again, and good to meet you.

Say hi to the Grizzly from me  :)

thanks for everyones help... ive been asked to do a concrete imprinted driveway, the colour was biscuit... however over the years its hardly got colour on. i have told them i am not trained to do a full colour change driveway but let them know i would seek more advice and if its easy enough i would go ahead and do it... what would i need and is it quite easy to do? thank you
