I suppose the way these guys look at it is £3.50 a house - might get 2/3 done in an hour so £7 to £10 an hour

We have a few of those around here as well, but they work on a 2 weekly cycle. Because of their cycle, they don't have many customers and expansion is restricted because of their frequency and pricing. Their vehicle is off the road more often than not as they can't afford to fix it so they walk with their ladders for 'miles' adding more time to their days work or reducing the number of houses they can clean. They don't bother us to much. They have canvassed some of my customers but I've lost 1 to them - all the others are a bit suspicious of them - and it easy to confirm your customer's suspicions by asking " I wonder what they are really after?"

The other thing is that they are probably reporting 16 hours a week and claiming family credits - quite legal and within their rights to do so. Whether they are working longer hours and running 2 books is another story, but I hardly think the receiver is going to tail them for a couple of months to find this out.

The car washers are paid £12-15 a day apparantly. Illegal builders do a bit better, they get £20

i wouldnt worry! if you have an established round and are very professional in how you run your business you ll be ok.

this guy wont last 2 mins at them prices!trust me!ive seen em before!!

Oh yes we have them round here as well but now some of them are driving brand new Ionics vans. New breed. They are not undercutting they have a "marketing strategy" and something called a "Gameplan" which just by coincidence does actually involve something called "undercutting". But then a chap has to build turnover doesn't he?

They all seem to believe that in a couple of years their superior skills will mean that they will have ten vans and something called a "team". By then they will be directing operations via a mobile phone in Starbucks and not doing anything as vulgar as actually "working" themselves.

And only then until they can appoint somebody called a "manager" then they will just sit back and count the money while watching the pigs flying overhead.

vans will dissapear mate, you see them in ionics vans becasue you can get them on finance for about 21000 whilst us on here get the same things for under 7 :-)

as dazmond said, we are lucky with domestic clients in the fact that most of them are really loyal :-) will go for the local company and the guy who has been around in a bit.

i think the likes of me you and dazmond have no worries if you think of all the things we have learned over the years since wfp and the days before, all the tricks and everything else, (i thought i knew everything a year ago, i didn't)
i know its only "window cleaning" but it takes a type of person to create a great buisiness in this game and they are up against tough experienced competition (us).

Obviously some will make a success and some people will be excellent, but no-where near as many as new vans on the road.
