Scary Roy - don't worry about ladders - Roy will see to that!
« on: September 05, 2012, 10:43:48 pm »
Hi folks,

In 14 yrs of wc or quite possibly my 38 years I have never encountered a more mental bloke, Imagine Compo (last of the summer wine)  on pcp, here's the story...

One of my custies lives in a ff flat above this old fella Roy (aged around 90). Access at the back of my flat means entering Roy's back patio. He has proudly since my first visit roughly 2 years ago displayed a piece of rope tied across his patio with a large keep out sign attached. When I first met him I was cleaning a window for my custy at the back near to the rope when he came steaming out, grabbed hold of the ladder, tried to throw me off telling me to get out. After my aplogies (and him accusing us even though he had never met us of 'coming round 'ere snooping about!' ) as I didn't want to cause him any more distress he calmed down very slightly and we agreed that he would only allow us access if we knocked on his door to let him know we were around.
This has all been fine even though he was never friendly about it even tough we tried our best to reassure him we are a professional honest company and did not wish to make him worried or uneasy whilst we were there. My custy has always warned me of his crazy way of dealing with things and when I arrived to clean today my custy told me since my last visit he had a row with another neighbour as the neighbour was putting up a shed and the lead for his power tools had gone in Roy's patio so he proceeded to throw a bucket of p at him! (I wouldnt put it past him either).
Anyway today I went around the back with the pole and duly knocked his door to no answer. I had almost finished the windows when a bloke knocked on Roy's door, I told him Roys probably out, but then he answered the door. I heard a brief hello and then the bloke say to him ' I think he might need that pole' which momentarily confused me as I was finishing off the last window. The next thing Roy has come out with a hack saw in hand, grabbed hold of the hose and started trying to cut it!! I didn't know what to do apart from shout and grab the hose to try and stop him. After me warning him if he cut it I would call the police he stopped without bursting it surprisingly, he let go and told me to get out. I asked him why he was being like this and he accused me of not knocking his door. I assured him I had. The custy opened the back window and told him that I was only doing my job etc. tbh I had to say to him that I am doing just that and not interested in his property whatsoever apart from to do my job. I know I shouldn't have said it but I even asked him what he what do if my custies flat god forbid was on fire and they had to escape at the back would he let them onto his property? (you wouldn't believe his answer, while my custy was hanging out of his window) 'I would find some petrol and chuck it up there!'
At that point I thought I'd better call it a day!
