Anyone on a Water meter with a business tariff??
« on: July 08, 2012, 10:30:02 am »
Anyone know if it's worth changing over to a business/commercial tariff from my standard domestic?
I'm on a standard water meter at the moment, and the wife also runs a hair dressing business from home so understandably the bill has now risen quite considerably
( I use about 1500 ltrs a week)

Just trying to reduce my outgoings really - bought a tank for rainwater etc..

Cheers all  :)

I've had an estimated reading for the last year - now they've updated and done a correct reading my monthly payments have shot up!
Just wondered if it's worth seeing if a business tariff would be a better alternative??

I phoned up southern water and told them that the 95% they have for run offs is wrong as i use it for window cleaning ,so does not go down the drain.
They have sent me a latter to fill out and send back to get a idea on the amount thats not going down the drain, which i would hope then reduces my bill.
Just not sent the letter back yet,not sure might if its a good idea.Might go up  :o

I have been told to do the same as above and to also claim a refund by someone who works there, so on that note yes it should be worth swapping over and claiming non return to drain.

you have to fit a meter to your waste water pipe and let them know the figures. thats how its done. my mate who has commercial company does it.

Been on the phone to them today and they reckon I'm better off on the standard domestic tariff
Ill fit a meter to my outside tap to see how much I use over an average month and then try and get a better deal methinks  :)

It's gone from £26 a month to £100 - that includes my house water and the fact the wife is running a salon from home too  :( :(

Yeah I realised I would have to pay more and have been lucky for the last year or so but thought a different rate or tariff but be more beneficial but obviously not  :)
