GX390 Fixed..... Maybe?
« on: June 09, 2012, 04:57:34 pm »
Ok here we go. Firstly forgive me if my terminology is off but hopefully you will catch my drift.

Goes back to the repair/Dealership this morning 8am. (guvnor said bring it round will have a look)

I then had a intensive course on engine repair. :-\

First we get the old "i'll have a quick look" routine. pull pull pull and nothing. scratches head. Ok

Lets check all the switches. on off on off on off. hmmmmm. scratches head.

Ok air filter dry............................Check.
Spark plug...................................Check.
Oil. Fresh and correct level..........Check.

Well they should be ok you seviced it yesterday.!!!!!! I says. Bear in mind I am breathing down his neck but being friendly at the same time. In fairness he could have said jog on mate. So I am kinda grateful/angry to set the scene.

Disconect the oil sensor to bybass possible fault.....No Fault!

Check the spark plug for visible spark... No Fault!

Gets out diagnostic tool to check faulty on off switch. No Fault!

At this point he really wants to tell me to "book it in" so brings up how busy he is. I just stand there with a blank expression on my face a say nothing. He looks back down and carries on tinkering.

We are at the 1hour mark so far. Bear in mind they charged me 2 hours labour on a service and I have just stood there and watched him  do one in half and hour ???

So out comes the boss to hurry it all along and for some unknown reason asked his guy what is doing, and then just gets involved. Reckons in 30 years never seen it on a honda. Rolls up his sleeves and gets stuck in strips the thing to bits.

Im thinking crack on fella coz I aint payin ya ;D

After a bit he finds the fuel?/inlet? Valve is jammed in and metal plate is hanging off. He reckons Ive bent a piston and looking like a 300 quid job. I dont say a word and he Just carries on. Strips the valve system down pulls out the pistons? and they are covered in gunk. He puts all the bits in a sonic machine to clean and the movement is smooth again. Reckons I might be lucky.

Then asks me If I want to replace the part or take a punt. I tell him I am not paying out for parts, so he spends and hour putting it all back together. After a bit of tinkering and bleeding of pipes he pulls the cord..........................

It snapped and hit him in the eye.....He goes mad and storms off........

His lad fixes the cord and asks the boss to hold the winder so he can feed the chord through with a sharp hook tool.....

He then rams it though the boss's thumb.  :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D

Off he goes again. Swearing and cursing.. I said I reckon your done mate... he says dont worry hes my dad. ;)

Anyway all back together and up she fires.......... :-*

After 10 Minutes off congratulating himself, he calls his dad over to talk money. Dad looks at me, takes some sort of fatherly pity on me and says give me 2 hours labour when your flush lad. £100. We have been there 4 hours.

Said thanks and shook his hand and asked what could have caused it. He said absoloutly no idea.. Never ever seen it before But if it happens again dont bring it here :-X

So in conclusion we are up and running but dont know how long for.. If it goes again Im done. ;D

Thanks for your input guys, any ideas what might have caused it?

BVC.
