There was an interesting thread on here about your problem, it was posted by Ian H2O, if you put a search in using 'messers ' you should find it.
I suppose you haven't much history with the customer, he may be having problems you don't know about, maybe give him the benefit of the doubt and see what happens next time, but it is one to watch. Hope you get it sorted.

Each time you make a special effort to find him it costs you time and money. You may eventually get your money, but it will probably have cost you more than the job was worth.

Whilst I hate non payment for work done, we have all had them and will continue to have them. Instead of wasting time chasing it, write it off and spend that time knocking a few doors in your area.

There are some that make it a life challenge to get work done and not to pay for it. Don't take it personally and let it eat you up. I'm a great believer that we will all have to stand before the Judgement Seat of God and answer for our past deeds.

I won't clean it again. If he isn't around (or not answering his door) then the chances are you will be doing a second clean for nothing as well. I would stop now.

Yeah, you're most likely right, experience with people like that usually send warning bells off in my head and the best solution is to move on  :)

I cant see what the problem is here.
Its not his fault you call when he is not in, The guy probably has a very busy life. If he said "call tomorrow I will have your money"  maybe he would have. If you missed him you cant be sure.
In this situation I would write to the customer saying, I keep missing you so please forward the payment or call you if that's a problem.
Only then if you don't get it can you be sure he is a messer.
I have had loads of new customers who took a while to settle in to a routine but once they did they became great customers.
Dont be to hasty to write it off.

Hi Neil,
Your are right, we can't prejudge a situation and I was wrong in presuming this guy is a messer or that he is a bad payer. However I will also say that even although he is a busy person, Mike123 will most probably always have problems getting paid because of this customers life style. If that is the case then I still wouldn't want him as a customer. I've been done over too often of late with this sort of thing.

Have you left him a note to let him know you called?
Have you left a No. for him with note asking him to txt / call when's the best time to collect?
Left him a note with your BACS details for online payment?
I would give him chance until you are certain he's a messer as you say you've only had him for 1 month.
