Parquet (parkay) flooring
« on: May 14, 2012, 09:42:36 pm »
Anyone suitably knowledgable about this stuff who might be up for resurecting a living room of the stuff? (12x16 ft)
Did a flood job today and the woman nearly had a orgasm when I said there was parquet flooring underneath (which she wasn't aware of), so having dried the carpet she now wants it cut up and dumped to recreate the 1960's wooden flooring;D
So there's going to be a possible job going in Winchester (Hants) if someone wants it, just let me know so I can pass on the details.

Closely guarded secret my friend ;) Maybe I'll exchange it for some of your secrets at the next get together 8)
Believe me I've had some impressed customers before but none like this one when she found out there was a parquet floor under her feet!!!

Are they prepared to pay relocation expenses. ??

If so, I can also help with more of her peculiarities, looks considered. ;-)

Shortwun.

PS::: My trade about five decades ago started in the laying and sealing of Parquet, carpet laying, vinyl tile laying, (asbestos included back then), and timber floor sanding and finishing.

Remember having to replace Parquet tiles (Japanese Oak) from two levels in a house, plus the circular stairway, due to the timber having wood borers in it.

Found this out about twelve months after we had laid it.

Owners had won an Opera House lottery.  ::)

Parquet is one of the trickier ones to work on as you are going across the grain to some extent on every pass.

It requires a lot of work to then remove this. Planetary machine such as the Lagler Trio or a rotary machine with sanding screens are required to get the best finish.
