Garage set up - Tap
« on: April 14, 2012, 09:40:44 am »
hi

ok going to start setting my system up in the garage

question 1.. is... regarding a tap will one of those self tapping / diy garden taps suffice (the ones where you just scree the clamp to an existing pipe .. it then pierces the pipe and you screww the tap onto the clamp and open the valve and bingo job done)..

thanks paul

no there rubbish.
because they force the pipe in, it can restrict the flow, so give low pressure.

yeah i swapped it over to a proper T in the pipe, and the pressure difference was amazing.

if you have access to the pipe DIY it its not that hard.

Self tapping connections are for the DIY brigade.

Get a tee and cut through your pipe compression fittings if you're not up to soldering 20 minute job!

the house i'm in now i used pushfit connectors and copper pipe, soldering the last bit for outside.

but compression fitting are cheap and quick to put it all together.
