Have a look at the one on our site, The spindle is a solid rod of nylon, which the metal reel spins on. The handle crank is steel with a nylon hand grip, very tough.
I however would always go with the lighter hozelock 60m reels I have several and they last very well (5 years so far) and weigh about a 1/5 of the metal counterparts.
Obviously though the metal reel will be far tougher if you don't mind the weight penalty.
