Adwords Express
« on: March 19, 2012, 12:03:37 pm »
Anyone tried this yet?

It seems to be PPC for Google places - perhaps explains why they've been giving Places more priority over last few months.

The charges are indicated to be 25-40 clicks for £80 a month.

The only thing is, my Places tends to rank quite well anyway?

Hi Ash

I've just started with it, but only second day.  Very easy to set up as it is not complicated like the normal adwords.  To early to say what the response will be like.  I'm only using it as a stop gap as i have made some changes to my google places and my listing is just below the crease of page one and I suspect it will go back to its normal position in a copule of weeks.  I had to change my phone number and google send you a confirmation code through the post which takes a couple of weeks and then when you have activated it takes another couple of weeks to sort its self out again, bloody pain in the butt, hence my foray into google express. Within 5 mins of completing my advert it was live. ;D

Hi Ash

We tried it and dropped it after a couple of weeks as it seemed to interfere with the standard PPC.  Probably just me not knowing how Express works fully, I'd thought it was designed to be an extra 'Ad' on the Places bit as well as the top Ad, but apparently not.  Plus the CPC was higher than our 'standard PPC' Ads, perhaps as new to it.  Basically we spent more but generated less when I tred it so put on hold.

Don't know if that's any help?

Not good then.

The only advantage I can see, is that people wouldn't necessarily have to click on your ad, as your contact details would be supplied on the Google screen?

You can put your telephone number on your PPC Ad's Ash, use the Ad Extensions bit.  You don't pay unless the user clicks the number to dial it, from a smart phone or using an internet phone.  Google have also notified agencies that they are cracking down on people who put the telphone number in one of the two lines of the advert, so that little trick is being closed.  They say they will convert any telephone numbers to a Cost per click like the Ad Extension bit.

You can also add your address from your Google places too, plus other stuff with the same Ad Extensions section.

It is exactly the same as setting up a normal adwords account.

All the same features that are available when creating an account the standard way. Just links your ad to a Google places or manually entered address and sets up geo-targeting.

These two things you should do anyway when you set-up Adwords especially if you are a local service looking to attract local customers.

As mentioned above it is not that well set up and will cost considerably more then a correctly configured normal account.
